From mountains and seas, skyscrapers and jungles, herders to diggers and pineapple sellers, soldiers, sailors and intergalactic villains, wet ones, dry ones, old and young - it would appear that everybody enjoys a little jump once in a while!
This all began in 2009 when I wondered to myself:
'These serious strangers I see everyday rushing down the street, how can I put a smile on their faces?'
I proposed a simple question to my friend Alex:
"Alex, if I ask that couple over there to jump, do you think they'll do it?"
Well, to cut not such a long story shorter - Yes, they jumped!
...and so it began!
I loved this simple gesture, it created a moment of truth as if a social veil had been lifted. People let go and inherently expressed themselves - as nature intended. They smiled. I smiled. And I knew that you'd smile - because somewhere in the book I know you see a part of yourself.
Over the years I continued my journey around the globe both through work and pleasure, asking people everywhere, 42 countries so far, my way of documenting the places I explored and people that would pass me by all through this simple moment.
I began archiving my collection and set myself a simple brief:
CREATE A BOOK THAT CAN MAKE ANY HUMAN SMILE.
The book is still a WIP, but in the meantime we made a film too:
