I met Lotte peering over a fence on the Spree river in Berlin. She's is an artist and came over with a friend from Denmark in 1990 when they saw on television that the wall had come down and other artists were coming from all over the world to artistically liberate the space. She told me that it was an incredible sight to see, people from the east, notably different from their neighbours, wondering over into the west for the first time in 30 years - bewildered, curious, excited, nervous. Since 1990 Lotte has made the trip over to Berlin twice to repaint the mural, but this time the visit was to show her daughter, coming to Berlin for the first time much like her mum did 23 years ago. http://lottehaubart.blogspot.dk/ for more of Lotte's work =)
